You arrive at Casablanca airport, where we will meet you and drive to Casablanca, and then to Rabat. In Casablanca, you will see the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque outside Mecca. Continuing to Rabat; the capital of Morocco - you will see the Hassan Tower and walk the Oudaya Kasbah before you check in to your overnight accommodation in a riad at the heart of the Medina. After breakfast in your riad, we will drive to Chefchaouen via the city of Asilah. Most of the drive will be by the coast. Our first stop will be in Asilah, where you will have the opportunity to explore the city. Asilah is known for it annual festival for the art - most of the walls of the Medina are painted by various famous artists from all over the world. Your visit includes the Skalla fortress, where you will experience a wonderful view of the Medina and the ocean. If time permits, you will have a drive through Tanger to get a feel of the city. Afterwards you will continue over the foothills of the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Overnight at Casa Perleta or similar. Bed and Breakfast.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring the Chefchaouen “The blue city of Morocco”. Situated at the footstep of 2 higher mountains, Chefchaouen is a beautiful unique city, with its white washed walls and blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, Chefchaouen was occupied by Spain; therefore, there is much influence from the Spanish civilisation and Moorish architecture. In the afternoon you will have your own time. This provides the opportunity to wander around unguided or just enjoy some time to yourselves. Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start travelling to Fes via Ouazzan and the Roman site of Volubilis. After a couple of hours drive, you will get to Volubilis, the well preserved Roman empire dating to 225 BC, where you will see the most beautiful Mosaics in Morocco dating back to 3rd century BC. Here you will have a guided tour of the site and learn a lot about the Roman Empire. After that we travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes we see the fascinating gate Bab Mansour built by the sultan My Ismail; the granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and plantation. Your visit includes also the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. We then continue via the highway to Fes. Overnight accommodation in your riad. Bed and breakfast included.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring Fes the “the Sprititual City of Morocco”. You will spend the whole morning exploring the Medina and its alleys; visiting most of the sites with cultural and historical interest - including the famous Al Karaouine Mosque and University (the oldest in the world), the Medrasa Bouanania, the Tanneries and the Najjarine fountain. After lunch, we will drive you outside the Median to see the Royal Palace gate, walk through the Jewish quarter “the Mellah”, and then visit the pottery cooperative. In the afternoon, we will drive you to one of the fortresses to experience an amazing panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fes. Overnight accommodation. Bed and breakfast included.
Today, we will leave Fez and travel towards the south of the country via the middle atlas mountains passing by beautiful small Berber villages like village of Ifran, a beautiful mountain village, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco.” On to Cedar forest, the largest forest in Morocco, where you can hand feed Barbary apes (Berber monkeys). The journey continues along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas. Lunch in Midelt, and then you will be traveling through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge. You’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the beautiful Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud (the fossils and dates City) where you may want to visit a local fossil shop. Then we will continue to Merzouga dunes (also known as Erg Chebbi dunes). You will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check in to your rooms. Dinner, bed , and breakfast included.
Today, we will visit Gnawa people – originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s also the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. Afterwards you’ll leave for Rissani – once called Sijilmassa and the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, smelling the spices, vegetables and cloths all for local sale. After a pizza lunch in Rissani, we’ll travel back to your Riad where your camel awaits you. After a glass of mint tea, and guided by an experienced camel man, you’ll begin your camel safari exploring within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you will spend your night under the stars in a traditional Berber nomad tent. Dinner will be served in the tent where you’ll spend the night. Dinner, bed,and breakfast included.
The camel trekker will wake us up at dawn to see the spectacular sunrise in the desert, then we will return to the camp to have our breakfast. After breakfast, the camel trekker will us back to the Auberge to have a shower and refresh our body. Next, we will drive to Rissani for lunch via the Ksours and kasbahs of Tafilalet.
We will visit the Zaouia of moulay, Ali El-Charif, the mausoleum of the dynasty Glaoui founder, and enjoy a walk to discover the local market and traditional souks in Rissani. Then we will drive to Tinghir, passing by Erfoud and Tinjdad. After, we will continue toward Tinghir where you can walk/hike between the gorgeous oasis palm trees. Overnight in Dades valley include dinner, bed, and breakfast.
After breakfast in the hotel, we will drive through Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs – providing numerous opportunities for photos. Our first stop will be at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose city”, to see products made of rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. Then to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”.
Here you have the option to visit the studios to see props used in some movies you might have watched, such as “Gladiator”,“Jewel of the Nile”, “the Last Temptation of Christ” and “The Sahara.” Then we move on towards the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. Listed as a UNESCO heritage site since 1997. The kasbah was built during the 18th century by Berber Chieftains named as Thami El Glaoui. Today, only few Glaoui people still live there. Your journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your accommodation in Marrakech. Bed and breakfast included.
After breakfast in the riad we will take you to explore Marrakech, “the red city of Morocco.” We will ensure that you see the most important places of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadian tombs; the Palaces of El Bahia and El Badi; and the Ben Youssef Koranic school. We will stop for lunch near the square, then head to visit the gardens at Majorelle, Menara, and the Koutoubia tower. Overnight in your riad located in the heart of the old medina of Marrakech. Bed and breakfast included.
You will be taken to the airport in Marrakech or to Casablanca for departure depending on your flights' details. Tour ends at the airport.
